Keith Raymond Erikson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 19, 2023. Keith was born in Rexburg on December 24, 1937 to Raymond and La Von Erikson. He was raised on the family farm south of Rexburg.
In 1959 he married Cora Ley Anderson in the Idaho Falls temple and together they raised 7 children. He loved his family and any activity that involved gathering his family together.
In 1960, the family drilled one of the first irrigation wells on the Rexburg bench. The irrigation wells provided enough work to allow Keith and his brother Guy to choose farming as a career, and to grow potatoes and grain for the next 53 years. A lot of the success he had while farming was because he loved it so much. His last outing was to see how the planting was going.
He had a lifelong love for gadgets and new things. He loved finding ways to tweak things and make them a little bit better. He enjoyed modifying the farm equipment to make it work just right and was always buying the latest gadget. If it was electronic, he wanted to buy it.
In the early years of his marriage, he served in the Idaho National Guard.
He served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; in bishoprics and stake callings. In 2011-2012 Keith and Cora Ley served a mission for the church in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Keith served as the President of the Rexburg Canal Company for many years. He served on the Fremont-Madison Irrigation Board. He also served on the Idaho Water Users Association, eventually serving as President.
He is survived by his wife, Cora Ley Erikson, and his 7 children: Elaine Erikson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Ron Erikson of Rexburg; Susan (Pete) Blunck of Rexburg; Diane (Darren) Klingler of Rexburg; Stan (Jamie) Erikson of Rexburg; Michelle (Kevin) Wellard of Billings, Montana; and Doug (Cheme') Erikson of Rexburg; 23 grandkids and 25 great-grandkids. He is also survived by his brother Guy (Leola) Erikson of Rexburg.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his older sisters Elaine Erikson and Maureen (Arden) Stewart.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Rexburg Stake Center. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. The interment will be the Burton Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to
