Keith Roberts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woody Home for Services on Mar. 19, 2026.
On Thursday morning, February 19, 2026, the Lord held out his hand and whispered, "It is time, my child!" And the voice that once said, "Hey, hey!" was silenced.

Keith Michael Roberts was born on March 10, 1951, in Orange, NJ, as the fourth and only son of five children to Anne and Kenneth Roberts. He was known as Keith, Mike, Losh or Loshie by friends and family.

Michael was raised in East Orange, NJ and attended the East Orange School system, graduating from East Orange High School in 1969. He attended Lincoln University in Pennsylvania graduating in May 1973 with a degree in Business. He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Bayonne, NJ for many years.

Michael was a member of the Boys Scouts of America Troop #35 at Washington School. One of his favorite activities was participating in the Klondike Derby. He loved his Lionel train set and racing cars where he built a whole village he set up on a large board in the basement. He loved sailing his sailboat on the pond at Orange Park with his friends. He would sew sails out of fabric from his mother's material collection. His mother would get a piece of material and there would be a huge triangle cut out in the middle. He and a few of his friends would sit on the roof outside his bedroom window and blow the trumpet, saxophone and flute and entertain the neighbors. He also enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together. He had built a radio in his desk drawer with a hanger for the antenna that his mother wouldn't touch. She would call someone to turn it off if he fell asleep with it on. He loved music and had a collection of record albums in milk crates. Another love of his was fish and he had a huge aquarium in his room with this big Oscar!!!

Michael's biggest love as an adult was tinkering on his blue Volkswagon Bug and later his black Karmann Ghia. He kept that car tuned to a T!!!

In 2018, Michael suffered a stroke. As a result, he became a resident of Brookhaven Health Care Center in East Orange, NJ, where he resided until his passing.

Michael was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Susan Roberts. He leaves to mourn his daughter Michelle Renee Reddick, grandson Zachary (ZJ) Sharif Jr; sisters Sharyn Gray (Lawrenceville, Ga), Marcia (Leonard) Dean (Lawrenceville, GA), and Lynn Roberts (Orange, NJ); cousins Tracy Walker, Taylor Walker, Leiani Hernandez and Donna Moreno; nieces Tracy Lynn Roberts, and Alanna Gray; nephews Charles Allen Gray Jr, Elijah Gray, Karon Gray and Calvin Roberts; longtime friends William "Pumpkin" Trower and Glenn Nichols; and a host of relatives and friends.
