Kelly Jo Glossner, 51 of Indian Head, MD passed away on November 17, 2024 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, MD.
Kelly was born on June 2, 1973 in Pennsylvania to Judith (Viechnicki) and Kenneth Glossner.
Kelly grew up in Lock Haven, PA, where she was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, with a Minor in Special Education from Lock Haven University in 1995. She later earned her Master's Degree from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. Her Special Education Degree brought her to Charles County Maryland in 1997, where she would spend the rest of her 26-year teaching career at Mt. Hope Nanjemoy Elementary School. She began as a Special Education Teacher, and after one year moved into a Second-Grade teaching position, and ended her career as a Fifth-Grade Teacher. Kelly was a highly respected educator. She earned many awards, including the Exemplary Teaching Award. She was very involved with the Mt. Hope community events to include; the math team, and Relay For Life. She loved her students and colleagues.
Kelly played softball throughout her youth and high school years. She was an avid fan of Penn State Football. She loved to read and physical books of all kinds. She was smart as a whip and known to be a walking dictionary. She enjoyed trips to the beach, especially Ocean City, MD, video games, yard sales, game shows, and reality TV. Her favorite color was orange. Family was most important to her. She will be remembered for her quick wit, and sense of humor.
Kelly is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Glossner.
Kelly is survived by her wife, Kerri Elizabeth Blasey; mother, Judith (Viechnicki) Glossner; brother, Kevin Glossner; nieces; Kaleigh Glossner, Kaitlyn Glossner, Sami Blasey, Dani Blasey, and Alex Blasey; father and mother in-law, Donald and Marlene Blasey; brother in-law, Michael Blasey and his wife Amy; and her beloved cats; Max and Meela.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 7:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, PA, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Kelly's name are asked to the Relay For Life for Charles County, https://secure.acsevents.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=relay_donate_now (Please put Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School or Charles County in the search box.)
