Kelly Elaine Henderson

Kelly Elaine Henderson was born on January 14, 1984, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Lisa McGahan Newland and Raymond "Rusty" Henderson Jr. From the very beginning, Kelly was a light in the lives of everyone who knew her. A happy, radiant child, she faced early developmental challenges, but she met each one with a strength and spirit uniquely her own.

Though she was developmentally delayed in walking, sitting up, and was never able to speak in words, Kelly communicated through her joyful presence, her infectious laugh, and a smile that could brighten any room. Beautiful inside and out, she drew people in with her warmth and the unmistakable glow of her personality.

Kelly lived with numerous health challenges throughout her life, yet she faced everyone with resilience. She was diagnosed with Angelman's Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder caused by the absence of a portion of chromosome 15. Despite the obstacles it brought, Kelly never allowed her disabilities to diminish her spirit. She remained determined, loving, and full of life. Her mother, Lisa, was her tireless advocate, ensuring she was always cared for, protected, and surrounded by love. To her mama, she was forever an angel.

She will be remembered as someone whose presence filled every space with beauty, joy, and a sense of peace. Though she is no longer seen, her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.

Kelly is survived by her mother, Lisa Newland; her bonus sister, Melinda Leon; her bonus brother, Jerry Newland Jr.; maternal grandmother, Bobbie Rolfe, and husband Harry; paternal grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond "Rusty" Henderson; her bonus dad, Jerry Newland Sr.; her maternal grandfather; and her maternal and paternal great-grandparents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24th from 12:00 - 1:00pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1pm with Richard McGahan delivering the eulogy. Interment will be at Younger Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Brown, Jesse Adamson, Lucio Leon, Marvin McGahan, Robert Newland, and Jerry Newland III.
