I have memories from when Uncle Kelly and a girlfriend of his came to watch me one night right after my sister was born. He would have been a senior in High School at the time. He was so kind and patient, with me. I was having nightmares and he worked hard at being silly while putting me back to bed. Later, when I was in middle school I spent a summer help him on his farm, it was one of the most formative and important summers. I learned both how to work hard until the job was done right and how to do whatever it took to complete the job. Both were skills I have used ever since.

Kelly and I are 1st cousins. Our mom´s were sisters. But because i was 15 when he was born, I wasn´t around him much until he was an adult. And then I moved to Oklahoma in 1969 and have been in this area since, but coming home to Oregon fairly often. I kept in touch with his big sis, Denise, so knew what Kelly was doing thru the years. I´m sorry to never have gotten to meet his kids. Let´s consider this note our meeting. I feel with you in your loss. Kelly was a good guy. I know you´ll treasure your memories.
