Kenny Kaneko of Allen Park, Michigan, passed away July 15, 2025, surrounded by family. Kenny was born in San Mateo, California to Roy and Sumi Kaneko. He was a devoted husband to Maureen, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three boys, John, Jeff and Patrick, who continue to carry forward his legacy. He was incredibly generous, a loyal friend and was always willing to help others. A proud graduate of Allen Park High School (Class of 1960), Ken honorably served his country in the United States Air Force before pursuing a degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. He dedicated his life to teaching and coaching, shaping countless young lives. He taught at every school in Allen Park Public Schools before moving on to teach at Plymouth Salem High school and Plymouth Canton High School. Ken had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially cherished camping trips with family and time spent on the golf course. His greatest joy came from being with his family-particularly his beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life. One thing his kids will particularly miss, (when they didn't answer their phones) were his frequent voicemails reminding them to "Answer your damn phone, Dad." Beloved husband of Maureen. Loving father of John (Jen) Kaneko, Jeff (Kelly) Kaneko and Patrick Kaneko. Dear grandfather of Mason, Reese, Jude and Leland. Dear brother of the late Gail Kaneko, the late Glen Kaneko and the late Larry Kaneko. Dear brother-in-law of Jane Kaneko, Rosemary Gibbons, Sheila Gibbons, Carolyn (Larry) Weber and Sharon Gibbons. Also survived by his nieces and nephews, Emi, Gemma, Brad, Kay, Eric, Benjamin, Zachary and Jonathan. Memorial Visitation will be Saturday August 16, 2025 from 11am - 3pm at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Avenue, Allen Park, MI 48101. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to either the Allen Park Athletic Club (APAC) at https://square.link/u/ToQB5qXB?src=sheet or by mail to: APAC P.O. Box 0691 Allen Park, MI 48101, or to https://shipwreckmuseum.com/donate/ in Ken's memory.
