Kendall Lewis, 92, of Vermilion, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born May 24, 1933, in New Athens, Ohio, and had been a resident of Vermilion for many years, having previously lived in Columbus, St. Louis, Nashville, Minneapolis, and Syracuse.
Kendall proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was employed as a plant manager with McQuay for nine years, retiring in 1997. He also worked for American Standard and Tappan during his career.
Kendall was a member of the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregational. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #563 in Columbus, a member of ASHRAE, and a member of the Vermilion Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and deep integrity, leading by example in all he did. His selfless nature and gentle devotion were especially evident in the loving care he gave to his wife throughout her battle with MS. He found joy in life’s simple moments-cheering on his Cleveland teams, celebrating the Buckeyes, and spending time with his family, who were always his greatest pride.
He is survived by his son, Steven R. (Kim) Lewis of Vermilion; his daughter, Amy (John) Scott of Powell; his grandchildren, Tess Meredith (Addam Kitchen) Lewis, Ross Paul (Melanie) Lewis, and Gabrielle Catherine Scott; great grandson, Henry Ken Kitchen and brother, Edward William (Kris) Lewis, Jr. of Powell, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Forrest JoAnn (nee Tobin) Lewis; his son, Kendall Paul Lewis in 1984; and his parents, Edward and Madeline (nee Watson) Lewis.
Private graveside services will be held. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 12 Noon until 3:00 p.m. at the Vermilion Boat Club, 5416 Liberty Ave, Vermilion, OH, 44089.
