Kenery Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc. - Lafayette on Feb. 26, 2026.
Kenery James Williams

November 4, 1962 - February 22, 2026

Kenery James Williams, the youngest of six children born to Joseph Eli and
Ludy Benoit Williams in Lafayette, Louisiana, on November 4, 1962, was
called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

Kenny was raised in Arnaudville, LA, where he attended school and graduated
from Cecilia High in 1970. He then attended Southern University and enlisted
in the National Guard. Upon deciding to leave Louisiana, he moved to Florida

and then to Georgia, where he was residing.

Kenny was raised in Arnaudville and was baptized in the St. Catherine's
Catholic Church. He grew in the knowledge of Christ and was known for his
deep faith, which he was always ready to share with his family members
about how he turned his life around, making it a testimony using Psalms 91 as
his favorite reading from the Bible. He would often call to talk about the
blessings of God and his forgiveness for things we hold onto. He coached us

on making things right among each other.

Kenny loved growing things, cooking, and socializing with family and friends.
His mom taught her sons how to cook in case their wives could not.

Kenny leaves to cherish his memory his significant other of 37 years,
Genevieve Prejean; brothers: Johnny Williams (Johnnie Carol) of Houston, TX,
Joseph Williams Jr. of Lafayette, Louisiana and Harry Williams of Arnaudville,
Louisiana; sisters: Marie Rita Williams and Sandra Williams of Breaux Bridge,
Louisiana; and his godmother, Annie Ruth Batiste of Arnaudville, LA. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ludy Williams; grandparents:
Eli and Lea Kilchrist Williams, Belezier and Ophelia Miller Benoit; niece
Bridget Batiste; and nephews Marcus Robicheaux and Byron Clements.

Kenny was a gift from God that we shared for a season, but God called him
back home. So rest in peace as we try to live to see your smiling face. See you

later, baby brother.
