Kenneth D. Aase, age 72, of Grand Forks, died Thursday, January 23, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Kenneth Dean Aase was born September 24, 1952, in Grafton, North Dakota to Wallace and Ellen Anna Mae (Blegen) Aase. He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. On September 10, 1988, Ken was united in marriage to Nancy Lee at Camp Shalom on Maple Lake. He worked as an electrician for over 45 years for Ron's Electric, Crystal Sugar, the City of Grand Forks, and RBB Electric retiring in 2017. Ken's greatest project was building his home with Nancy in Grand Forks where they raised their family together.
Ken's life was dedicated to his family. He loved spending time with his family; from camping trips at Cass Lake and Bad Medicine Lake and traveling to Florida; to teaching his children how to make lefse and playing cards and board games together. Those memories and trips together were always deeply cherished by Ken. He made friends with everyone and could spend hours visiting whether it was over the phone or over a meal he always had something to talk about.
Ken was survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy of Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Julia (Kameron) McGregor of New Port Richey, FL; son, Jared Aase of Grand Forks, ND; siblings, Jerry (Kitty) Aase of Benson, AZ, Sharon Kotrba of Grand Forks, ND, Janine (Dave) Willson of Grand Forks, ND; mother-in-law, Helen Lee of Erskine, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Heidi Aase; parents, Wally and Ellen; sister, Wynn Stjern; brother-in-law, Bill Kotrba; and father-in-law, Art Lee.
A visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2025, at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
