Ken was always someone for me to look up to and try to emulate. He and I were first cousins and he lived with us for a year while the rest of his family stayed in California. We lived on Highway "T" next door to Campbell Grove Church and Ken was a senior in high school when I was in first grade at the old Oak Grove #70 school. It was great having him there because I got to listen to his stories and meet all of his high school friends. My mother-Evelyn DeGraffenreid Watkins-absolutely thought Ken could do no wrong! I mentioned that very fact at her funeral because it was so evident. Whenever I emulated or said the same things he did I always got into a bit of trouble! But not 'ol Ken. He was the favorite son! And why not? He was charming, handsome, articulate and honest with a laidback way of approaching and talking to people. He attended my retirement dinner from Independence and other important venues in my life and I am grateful that we were connected in this life. I will miss him and I am extremely grateful for his presence in my life!
