Kenneth Bucheit Obituary

Kenneth P. Bucheit, age 80, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away November 30, 2021. He was born May 27, 1941 in St. Marys, Pennsylvania to Louis & Geraldine Bucheit.


Ken started his career as a draftsman, but soon find his niche in sales and managed Illinois Tool Works’  keyboard manufacturing division. He became ITW’s youngest Vice President. Ken was an entrepreneur at heart and founded multiple small businesses in transfer printing, lighting and a manufacturing representative firm. He retired just recently after almost 30 years at Lincoln Hodges, enjoying work with two sons in the business.


Ken was president of St. Vincent de Paul at St. James the Apostle for many years and was active in the Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn, JUST prison ministry, Catholic Cursillo and Communion & Liberation, a Catholic lay movement. Family was very important to Ken and he initiated an annual family gathering that has enriched the lives of his children and grand-children to this day.


He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jan; his children Kristine (Jeff) Gablin, Betsy (Scott) Boyd, Timothy (Pam) Bucheit, Kenneth "KC" (Malissa) Bucheit, Mark (Christine) Bucheit & Charlie (Thuc-nhu) Bucheit; his grandchildren: Joshua Gablin, Sara (Pete) Guillard & Timothy Gablin; Derek, Asha & Ty Boyd; and Samantha, Noah, Benjamin, Hazel, Jacob & Nathaniel Bucheit. Also survived by his siblings Robert (Sharon) Bucheit, David (Laura) Bucheit, & Greg (Diane) Bucheit and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by four other siblings and his parents.


A visitation will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 3-8pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. Relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Michael Church on Friday, December 3, 2021, for a funeral mass at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be private at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton.
