Dear Mrs. Gigi, Karen, Tara and Eileen Carter and Family:

I write to express my sincere condolences on the recent passing of your husband and father, Ken Carter.

Mr. Carter, as I knew him, was a soldier for justice and equality. His devotion to bettering the New Orleans African-American community and his dedication to the pursuit of equality will live on in the many lives that he touched throughout his career. I feel grateful to have known Mr. Carter and I have personally been impacted by his work. I know that his legacy will live on and on.

Please know Mr. Kenneth will forever live on through the memories shared, through the love he showed, the compassion he shared, and the work he did to change lives and the world.

Psalms 61:2 kjv
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

To the Carter family:
Please accept my sincerest condolences on your great personal loss, as well as a major loss for our community. Ken was a former student, a friend, and most of all a community servant, whose life was worth emulating. His calm and dignified demeanor was reflective of his family, church and friends. We're going to miss him, but we are better for his passing our way. Weep for a moment, but rejoice in knowing that those who belong to Christ will live again.
