Kenneth Chance Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 13, 2025.
Kenneth "Ken" Harold Chance, 66, passed away on November 14, 2025. He was born on April 13, 1959, to Mary Lou (Chance) Vielbig - his mother - and Kenneth Carman Chance, both of whom preceded him in death.

Ken was married to Angela Alice (Campbell) Chance, who preceded him in death.

Ken is survived by his three sons: Jesse Chance (Melanie), Jason Chance, and Justin Chance. He was a proud grandfather to Spencer Chance, Simmona Chance, and Salem Chance, and a delighted great-grand "Papa" to Kol Kreft-Lee Chance. He is also survived by his siblings, Don Chance, Danny Chance, Shelley Teague, Tommy Teague, and Michael Teague, along with extended family and many close friends.

Throughout his life, Ken met challenges with resilience and carried a kind, friendly spirit that remained with him always. Ken's love for his sons was one of the constants in his life. Jesse, Jason, and Justin were always close to his heart, and he was proud to be their dad. Ken had a quiet but unforgettable sense of humor. He was truly hilarious at times, and those moments of laughter remain cherished memories. His grandchildren knew him as "Papa," a name he treasured deeply. They loved him wholeheartedly and will forever remember his humor, gentleness, and the special place he held in their lives.

Ken loved his dogs and found true comfort in their companionship. He was a Kansas City Chiefs fan who especially enjoyed cheering on Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. Some of his favorite moments were spent watching Chiefs games with his son Jesse. He also enjoyed working on his truck and took pride in the time he spent under the hood. Ken was rarely still for long; he was always up and going, finding something to tinker with or someplace to be. And wherever he went, a cold Coke was never far from his hand.

He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

A visitation and memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 16, at 6 p.m., in the Senior Room at Harvest Assembly of God in Fair Play. This will be a come-and-go time for family and friends to visit, share memories, and enjoy a meal together in Ken's honor. A brief time of reflection and words of remembrance will be shared during the gathering.
