Kenneth Cohen, affectionately known as Kenny, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 10, 1952, to Deacon Palmer Cohen and Mary Alice Cohen. On June 11, 2025, he entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and music. As the fourth of ten children, Kenny was deeply rooted in the values of family and faith. His kindred spirit was a gift to all who knew him-an unselfish soul who fostered understanding, joy, and togetherness. His presence was a light, and his devotion to others was unwavering.
Kenny attended Brighton High School in Boston. Kenny had various jobs after high school working in the Boston Public School Department, Department of Children & Families mentoring youths, United States Post Office, and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). Kenny was a great driver and ultimately retired in the transportation industry.
Kenny and his brother Jerry, under the guidance of his father, started a group in 1994 call Spirit Gospel Singers of Boston. They sang acapella singing for homegoing services throughout the City of Boston. Kenny dedicated more than 25 years to the ministry of gospel music. Following in his father's footsteps, he brought inspiration and unity through song, touching countless lives with his voice. He was a great dancer, comedian, poet and storyteller, whose stories and laughter filled every room with warmth. Kenny's handwriting was impeccable. EVERYTHING he wrote exceeded a paragraph...Lol.
Kenny loved and deeply cherished his children and grandchildren. His eyes lit up when they were mentioned. He adored sharing meaningful moments with them and took great pride in celebrating their accomplishments. Time spent with them brought a special light to his life and joy to his heart.
Family was at the heart of Kenny's life. He held a deep affection for his nieces and nephews and shared a truly special bond with each of them. As the family's beloved storyteller, he captivated them with his tales, and they cherished every moment spent listening. His leadership in organizing the first Cohen family reunion united relatives from Spartanburg, South Carolina, his father's hometown. Through this gathering, he reconnected generations, strengthening bonds and celebrating the legacy of their family.
For 16 years, Kenny shared a love and friendship with his fiancée, Denise Grant. Their connection was a beautiful testament to companionship, built on mutual admiration and unwavering support.
Kenny leaves behind a loving family to carry on his legacy: His fiancée Denise Grant, the light of his life. His beloved children; Kenneth Cohen Jr. of Boston, MA, Etosha Bean of Dayton, OH, Kennecka Kindell of Boston, MA, Caron Kindell (Taylyse) of Atlanta, GA, Kamala Kindell-Fidelia (Fidelia Jr), Jeffrey McPherson (Lissy), Caiheem Kindell, Kenese Cohen all of Boston MA; his devoted siblings Anthony Cohen (Jean), Gerald Cohen, Betty Cohen, Gail Cohen Kelsey (Charles lll), Gina Cohen, and Wendy Cohen, all of Boston, MA. He is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved Mother and Father, sister and brothers, Stella L. Williams*, Palmer Leon Cohen*, and Larry Cohen*. He is also survived by (20) grandchildren, (5) great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends and an extended family who he holds dear to his heart, Jeffrey Lassiter, Jordan Hart & Derek Hart.
Kenny lived a life filled with purpose, love, and faith. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will endure through the lives he touched.

Uncle Kenny,

Words can´t begin to express the deep sadness I feel over your sudden passing. The Grant family and I will truly miss your warm laugh, your kind heart, and your beautiful spirit.

I´ll especially miss your visits to Atlanta-hearing you say "Keith Sweat" in your voice always made me smile-and the precious time we shared as a family.
May you rest in eternal peace, knowing how deeply you are loved.

Your niece Tracy Grant
