Mary Ellen, I was so sorry to learn of Ken's death. I have many fond memories of Ken, as well as of you, Sally, and your parents when we were all growing up together on Elmgrove Avenue in Troy. I take comfort in knowing that Ken is now reunited with Sally and your parents. I have prayed for Ken, and my prayers have been with you and your family.

Reading through the many condolence messages that amplified the life of Father Ken, or "Rock" as he was known at times, I cannot convey it any better.
I´ve heard many wonderful stories of you over the years from my deceased husband, Jim, a former priest in the Diocese.
We attended many services with you at St. Catherine´s and your presence was a real joy. I loved listening to you both swap stories of the early days.
Rest In Peace, dear Ken, and thanks for being there over the years.
And for presiding at Jim´s memorial service after he died in `08.
You left the world a better place!

Mary Ellen,
We are so sad to learn of Father Ken´s passing. I have so many great memories of him dating back to playing basketball at school 16 and then getting a soda at Jerry´s. He made a special effort to be available to marry Nancy and me and that was so special for us.
You and your family have our deepest sympathy.
He was a great human being.

I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to serve with and assist Fr. Doyle at the Church of St. Mary's. What a beautiful compassionate and devoted man, if I could be one-third of the person he was. I see him now interviewing our Lord to get all the answers. RIP Father, you will be truly missed.

To The Doyle Family,
The Great Family of Educators,
I first met Fr Doyle at Cardinal McCloskey HS in 1966 when he was assigned to Our Lady Help of Christians Parish and to teach at CMHS shortly after his ordination. He joined Fr Robert Hohenstein who was also assgned to Our Lady Help of Christians and teach at CMHS a few yrs earlier.I was at CMHS for 12 yrs[1962-74]as a teacher, coach,Asst Principal-68-74.The students and faculty loved Fr Doyle.A great teacher, the kindest and smartest priest.Always engaged with his students and parents. Also during his time at CMHS I noticed that students and faculty called him "ROCK".I never knew where that came from until some of our students mentioned in their condolences that they attended Camp Tekawitha in the summer and Fr Doyle was a counselor when he was a seminarian. He was called "ROCK".They remembered his nickname when they came to CMHS.He was one of a kind .He was destined for greatness in the Albany Diocese and beyond. After leaving CMHS he became Editor of the Evangelist, assigned to Academy of the Sacred Heart and Albany Law School [where he played rugby] while getting his law degree. Also he coached the girls' basketball team at the Academy of Sacred Heart for 4 yrs.
Fr Doyles' accomplishments are legendary. An amazing man devoted to his faith and his community.
I will not be able to attend his services but he remains to be in my prayers and thoughts.
Rest in peace my friend.

To Father Doyle's Family, Fellow Parishioners of The Parish of Mater Christi, Priests and Religious of the Diocese of Albany:
I just want to extend my deep condolences on the passing of Father Doyle. I'm a life-long parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena/Mater Christi, and it was an absolute joy to have Father Doyle as our pastor for 24 years. He truly was an outstanding person, a great priest, a great pastor and a great friend to our family, the latter dating back to the mid-1960s.
Also, Father Doyle had a terrific sense of humor and a laugh that literally lit up the Sanctuary during Mass. He will be missed by ALL of us who had the honor of knowing him.

As a parishioner of Mater Christi, I looked forward to Fr Doyle's homilies. In one of them, he shared a story that happened while he was working at the Vatican. He was presiding at a mass when to his surprise, he noticed the very holy looking woman in the front pew was none other than Mother Teresa.
After a Sunday mass, I whispered to Fr Doyle that my mother was near death. Without hesitation he came to
the hospital to anoint her after mass.
The good priest that he was, he would join the parish's Family Promise guests for dinner, so much that I got worried once if I brought enough for everybody.
My family is all gratitude when he came to my husband's funeral mass.
The Albany Diocese is so blessed to have Fr Doyle. Thank you Father, rest in peace,
John leonardi

Never met anyone who came to mean so much to me and my family. Our times with Father Doyle will be recalled with love and laughter. Our friendship is loaded with care for each other and sprinkles of pranks and practical jokes. I'm convinced his influence on my family helped to strengthen their faith and and relationship with God. RIP friend! And condolences to all who will miss Father Ken Doyle.

Sincere condolences to Fr. Doyle's family. I was a classmate of Ken's and always knew he was going to be a priest. He was an honor roll student and after not seeing him for 65 years I remember him fondly. What a life he led! Proud of him for all of his accomplishments.

Mary Ellen,
Will always remember growing up with Father(Ken) on the eastside of Troy. Remember our school days at Sacred Heart and serving early masses together before going to school and the social gatherings outside of Fitzies store at lunch and after school. Will always remember seeing and greeting him at wakes of our friends from both Sacred Heart, CCHS and LaSalle.
He will be missed may He RIP.
Sincerely

An extraordinary human being. One of those rare people who was as free of the ego as a human can be - humility. He provided me with an undergraduate internship at NCNS in Rome and it was an experience of a lifetime. There were many adventures and I'll share just one. He only had a certain number of tickets to this annual press reception that the President of Italy held every year. He and his staff managed to sneak me in and I got to meet the President of Italy. But not before Father Doyle gave me a crash course in the proper etiquette for such an event. And then there were weddings and funerals over the ensuing years. He was interesting, brilliant, and funny. But mostly he was interested...in you, in events, in religion, in philosophy - in just about everything. And he was kindness itself. A gentle soul whose time here made a lasting impact on me.

I wish to express my condolences to Fr. Doyle's family and many, many friends. He was always in my corner helping me when I came calling. He was my beloved pastor at Mater Christi I always found him to be the truest of Christians. We both had become lawyers at one point and had that in common as well as our Catholic Faith. I spoke to him over the telephone about ten days before he passed away; I called him once and he called me twice. He even corrected my recording of his cell phone number because it was one digit off. He was a very special man as well as a very special priest. I believe that Father Doyle is with God at this very moment!

Father Doyle was such a wonderful person who I am sure will be missed by his family and his many friends. To say he was a character was an understatement. Having spent 3 years in law school with him as well as on the rugby pitch and the basketball court it is fair to say he was not your typical priest. I am honored to have known him and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Father Doyle was one of a kind. I only knew him outside of his priestly duties as fellow ALS alumni and members of the rugby team. He had a great sense of humor but even more he had a great sense of humanity. Even if you didn't know he was a man of God you could feel some special calmness about him that drew you in. The world lost a wonderful man and the Albany Law School Rugby Club community lost a tremendous teammate. Rest in peace Father.
