Kenneth J Dyn, 77, of Richfield Springs, passed away at Bassett Medical Center, with his sons by his side, after a brief illness on Wednesday April 30th.
Ken was born on February 25, 1948 in Cooperstown, to the late Beatrice (Cushman) Dyn and Walter G. Dyn. Growing up on the family farm in Exeter, NY, he learned the value of hard work and his love of farming that stayed with him his entire life. After attending Richfield Springs Central School he married his high school sweetheart Dale Lucinda (Seamon) in October of 1967. Ken and Dale began 57 years of married life by starting a family farm, running the Dyn Family Cider Mill, establishing Ryder Valley Construction and constructing a new Cider Mill.
Ken loved to fish, hunt, snowmobile and pull tractors. He was active in the local community as a member of the Schuyler Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Richfield Springs Lions Club. He was a founding member of the Exeter Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. Ken served on the board of directors and was instrumental in the building of the club's groomer barn donating equipment and materials during construction. Later in life he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and spent countless hours sharing stories of his adventures.
Ken is survived by his sister Sabrina (Marc) Bodak and niece Tiffany Wilson of West Winfield. Ken and Dale's four sons John and his wife Emily Dyn of Richfield Springs, Greg Dyn and friend Sara Goodrich of Richfield Springs, Jake and his wife Jodi Dyn of Ilion and Travis Dyn and fiancee Amanda Marzeski of Richfield Springs. Fifteen grandchildren; Dylan, Laken, Carter, Michael, Hailey, Kyle, Emma, Griffin, Averi, Lanni, Luca, Connor, Colton, Weston, and Archer.
Besides his loving wife Dale and his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Walter G. Dyn Jr., and his sister Nioga Rankins.
The family will be having a private celebration of life at a later date per Ken's wishes. Ken will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.
