Kenneth Eckhart Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knesek Family Funeral Chapel - Sealy on Dec. 2, 2025.
Kenneth "Kenny" Eckhart passed peacefully in the early morning hours on November 29, 2025, at the age of 65. Kenny was born on August 18, 1960, in Boone, Iowa, to Emmett and Patricia Eckhart. He graduated from Boone Jr./Sr High School in May 1979. While in high school, he delivered the Boone News Republican, the local newspaper, along with his two other brothers. In the 10th grade, he began working for DeKalb in the shipping and receiving department, sometimes coming home covered in pink coloring. In 11th grade, he began working at Ledges Manor Nursing Home as a maintenance supervisor, receiving a 4-year pin of service. After graduation, he tried to join the army and the navy but wasn't accepted because of his height. In 1982, he moved to Texas, where he began working for Knox Fuel Stop as a maintenance man. Later, was promoted to assistant manager until a new owner took over in 2002. Then Kenny started working at Bill's Country Market as a sacker before being promoted to night supervisor for 22 years. After being let go from Bill's in 2024, he started at Dollar General as a stocker, then was promoted to assistant manager until May of 2025, when he fell ill with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Patricia; younger brother, Francis; sister-in-law, Carmen Eckhart; brother-in-law, David King; nephew, John Tejeda; grandparents; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

He is survived by his older brother Wesley Eckhart, younger brother Richard Eckhart, sister Kathleen King, nieces Katlyn Cieslewicz, Rachel Savala, and husband David, great nephew Dante Savala, and many cousins and friends.

A special thanks to family and friends for their prayers, phone calls, and gifts during his illness. An extended special thanks to Baylor St. Luke's Hospital and Houston Hospice for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030, or to Blood Cancer United, PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.
