Kenneth Flitton Obituary

Visit the McDougal Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather passed away peacefully during the early morning hours on August 30, 2025, after a battle with cancer. He was born on April 12, 1947, in Rupert, Idaho to LeRoy Thomas Flitton and Ruby Sweat. Ken is the oldest of 5, graduated from South High, and served our Heavenly Father in the Eastern States Mission.

He met his eternal sweetheart Laura Jean Christensen when she came from Oak City to stay with her brother Tony. Laura and Ken were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on September 6, 1968. They began their family a year later with the birth of their first child in September of 1969. Altogether they have 6 children, 5 of them married, and a total of 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ken worked hard to provide for his family. Some of those jobs included Beehive Clothing, Wasatch Nut Company, fleet services for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his wintertime fun of plowing snow. He worked in fleet services diligently and totaled 41 years with The Church. This job afforded his family many opportunities to travel as he would deliver cars to various missions across the US. The children always enjoyed these trips.

Ken was also an avid neighborhood mechanic and was always helpful when people had car issues but also served them in many other ways.

He served faithfully in various callings in the Church.

He enjoyed going camping and would call home and tell Laura to "pack up the trailer, we'll leave when I get home".

Ken was preceded in death by his eternal companion Laura, parents LeRoy and Ruby, his angel great-granddaughter Charity, and is survived by his siblings Leona, Kathy (Terry), Scott (Mary), Annette (Jon) and children Lori (Daniel), Wayne, Suzette, Derick (Julie), Kendal (Holly), and Angela (Cally).
