Franklin - Kenneth Lowell Gillis, age 89, of Franklin, Il. died early Tuesday (November 18, 2025) at The Grove in Jacksonville, Il.
He was born October 29, 1936 in Patterson, Il. son of the late Clarence Henry and Mary Theda Painter Gillis
He married Lillie M. Tannahill on December 24, 1955 in Alton, Il. and she preceded him in death March 7, 2020.
Surviving is a daughter, Janet Stewart (David) of Winchester, Il.; two grandchildren, Jeremy Stewart (Sheila) of Jacksonville, Il. and Stacey Stewart (Matt Turner) of Waverly, Il.; four great-grandchildren, Brittany (Mike), Cody (Erica), Michael, and Adden; seven great-great grandchildren, Hunter, Ava, Lillie, Beau, Violett, Caspian, and one on the way; a sister, Nila Webster (Roy) of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents; children, Peggy Sue and Stacey Kay and Lonnie Gene; and siblings, Carlis Gillis and Lavonne McGrath
He worked many years and retired from Dickie John in Auburn, Il. He loved to fish, bbq, and bowl. He was a member of the Roodhouse Pentecostal Church and was a past member of Jacksonville Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Monday (November 24, 2025) at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il. Burial will be held privately at Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and sent to Neece-Airsman-Hires, 349 E.
