Kenneth Hamilton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 9, 2011.
Kenneth Hamilton went to be with our Lord on August 9, 2011 at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family at Lafayette General Hospital. Memorial services, conducted by Pastor Steve Horn, will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, August 12, 2011, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Saturday at First Baptist Church of Lafayette from 10:00am until the time of service. Mr. Hamilton was born in Alexandria, LA, and resided in Lafayette and Shreveport, LA. Before moving back to Lafayette, he honored the Lord as an Ordained Deacon at Grawood Baptist Church, in Shreveport, LA, then was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette. He served our country for 8 years in the US Air Force as a Tech Sergeant in the 6927th Security Squadron, stationed at Okinowa, Philippines, Vietnam, and San Antonio. Ken Hamilton worked for over 20 years in the oil field industry as a Mud Engineer at NL Baroid, and a Drilling Foreman for Sun Oil. His second career was an educator for Comeaux and Acadiana High. His passions included writing poetry, golf, and chess, swinging on his porch swing and reading his well worn bible, but most of all he loved playing with his five grandchildren and writing them love filled letters with his thoughts and advice for their young lives. Ken Hamilton lived his life by his favorite verse: 'As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.' Joshua 24:15. Left to cherish his memory: his wife of 47 yrs, Kathy Ducharme Hamilton of Lafayette; one son, Dwayne Scott Hamilton and his wife Gloria of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Debbie Hamilton Henry of Shreveport/Bossier; his precious grandchildren, Donovan Patrick Henry, Joshua Walker Henry, Katherine Marie Hamilton, Emily Grace Henry, and Abigail Rose Hamilton; one brother, Ronald George Hamilton of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Trudie Lavergne Hamilton of Mesquite, Texas, and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack E. Hamilton and Sybil Rabb Hamilton, and one brother, Jack E. Hamilton, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donovan Henry, Joshua Henry, Jon Hamilton, Darren Hamilton, David Ducharme, Jeff Ducharme, Gary Ducharme, and Lee Ducharme. The Family would like to thank the staff of Daybreak Adult Daycare, especially Barbara, Tina and Roxanne. Also a special thanks to part-time caregiver, Rosa. Personal condolences may be sent to the Hamilton family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
