Dr. Kenneth Aaron Haselby, MD, 84, of Battle Ground passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at IU Health Arnett Hospital with family by his side.
He was born January 12, 1941, in Kokomo to the late Dale Q. and Dorothy H. (Meiner) Haselby. He graduated from Star City High School in 1959 and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering with Tau Beta Pi honors from Purdue University in 1964. As a co-op student at Purdue, he worked at Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis. Ken worked for two years at General Motors in Detroit. On August 12, 1966, he married Carla Rae Sigman in Jasper County. Ken left GM to pursue a medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating with AOA honors in 1971. Dr. Haselby completed his Anesthesia internship and residency in April 1974.
Following his residency, he joined Dr. Krishna at Riley Hospital for Children where he held the position of Assistant Director of Pediatric Anesthesia for 18 years working in the OR, ICU, and research. While there he was also Associate Professor of Anesthesia at Indiana University. He later became Chief of Anesthesia at Wishard Memorial Hospital (now Eskenazi), for 12 years. He was named Professor Emeritus of Anesthesia at Indiana University when he retired in 2006. Following retirement Ken worked part-time until 2020 as a Senior Engineer for Cook Research, Inc. in West Lafayette developing medical devices.
Dr. Kenneth A. Haselby was known by colleagues and patients as a kind man who was humble and intelligent with a tremendous sense of humor. He was an ardent Purdue fan. He enjoyed mentoring and with his wife he established the Haselby Family Scholarship for students with an engineering background pursuing a medical degree at IU School of Medicine.
Along with his wife, Carla, Ken is survived by his two sons, Aaron Haselby and Nathan (Pamela Wong) Haselby. He also leaves behind his brothers Robert (Jeanne) Haselby and Wayne (Sandy) Haselby and his sister Linda (Larry) Doll.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Dorothy Haselby and daughter, Heather Rae Haselby.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.,
Lafayette, IN 47909.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Battle Ground Methodist Church where he was a member.
