Kenneth Holman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Horn Family Funeral Home & Cremations on Mar. 18, 2026.
Kenneth Harold Holman was born on September 28, 1929 to Gladys Helen Blankenship Holman and James Polk Holman, in Alton, Missouri. He was the third born of 9 children. Ken went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 18, 2026. He recalled the specific time of asking the Lord into his heart at the age of 12, by sharing the details of the revival service with Harry Beaty, Pastor of Norman Baptist Church, leading the revival. Ken attended Norman Elementary School and graduated from Alton High School.

Ken proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, serving primarily in the Philippine Islands, and was awarded the Korean Ambassador of Peace Medal. After his time spent in the service, he returned to Thayer, Missouri where he promptly (the day of his return) married the love of his life, Charlene Bayless Holman. They were married 71 years. Ken and Charlene moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas, and raised a happy family with their sons Keith Allan Holman and Steven Craig Holman.

Ken enjoyed attending all of his sons' activities and especially playing golf with both Keith and Craig for many years. Ken was extremely proud of his family, including his grandchildren Bradley Holman Glenn, Blake Allan Holman, Kristie Lynn Holman Vinson and Matthew Jared Holman, and great grandchildren Ryder Allan Holman, Samuel John Vinson and Charlie Lynn Vinson. Ken enjoyed being outside, even if it was to take care of the yard. Ken had a long and productive career using his mechanical skills (he could repair most anything) at Union Pacific Railroad. Ken and Charlene were longtime devoted members of Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gladys Helen Blankenship Holman and James Polk Holman, brother Jack Holman, Bill Holman, Tommy Holman; sister Glenda Simpson Johnson; and grandson Matthew Jared Holman. Those left to cherish his memory are his children Keith Holman and wife Terry; Steven Craig Holman and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Dr. Bradley Holman Glenn, and husband Dr. Travis Glenn; Blake Holman; Dr. Kristie Vinson and husband, Dr. Chris Vinson; greatgrandchildren Ryder Holman; Samuel Vinson; Charlie Vinson; sisters Wanda DeWitt; Barbara Cox and husband Johnny; Brenda Cronister and husband Gary; Janice Bland; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law's Barbara Holman and Sue Holman; and Charlene's brother Charles Bayless and wife Annette.

His services have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas on March 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Those attending are asked to arrive for staging at 12:45 PM, after which we will proceed together in procession to the shelter. The family wishes to thank HeartsWay Hospice of Northeast Texas for their compassionate and professional care, and the Staff at Arrabella Assisted Living in Longview, Texas, for their daily support and attention.
