Kenneth "Ken" D. Hughes, 83, of Franklin Grove, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Dixon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Dixon.
Ken was born on April 12, 1941, in Dixon, IL, the son of Marion and Florence (Hough) Hughes. He married Judy A. Walters on March 4, 1967 in Duluth, MN. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 8 years. After returning home from the military, Ken settled in Franklin Grove. He loved his property and took pride in making it his home. Although he had a gruff exterior, Ken had a soft spot for his pets and his family.
Ken is survived by his wife, Judy Hughes; his two daughters, Rachel Hughes of VA, Heidi (Nathaniel) Hughes Palmer of ID; and two granddaughters, Scarlett and Ivy.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Marion Hughes; his mother, Florence Clemens; step-father, Charlie Clemens; one sister, Jean Hughes; and his maternal grandparents, Ray and Lucy Hough.
A Celebration of Life Open House will take place from 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Loveland Community House & Museum in Dixon. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be directed to Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
