Kenneth A. Johnson

Age 95 of Argyle, formerly of Monticello, died Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the home of his daughter, Kandace, in Ridgeway, WI. Kenneth was born on November 3, 1930 in Argyle, the son of Chester and Alice (Nybroten) Johnson. He attended Argyle schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951. Serving on the front lines during the Korean War, Ken earned the Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, and Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars before his honorable discharge in 1953. He was united in marriage to Bertha Graber on October 14, 1953. The couple farmed in Washington Township for over 40 years before selling the farm in 1998 and moving to where Ken was raised, Jordan Township. He was a member of Washington Reformation United Church of Christ, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Monticello American Legion Amstutz Marty Post #256, and was a former secretary and treasuer for Town Hall Cheese Factory. When Ken wasn't working he enjoyed dancing and traveling with Bertha, playing cards, and attending Norwegian Suppers with his siblings.

He is survived by his seven children, Keith (Jane) Johnson, Karen (Richard) Halvorson, Kelvin Johnson, Kandace (Orville) Stoltz, Kenny Johnson, Kristine (Ron) Oliver, Kurt Johnson (fiancée Amy Heatherman); 14 grandchildren, Sara, Doug (Katie), Joe, Megan (Joshua), Amber (Justin), Shawn (Monica), Kevin, Kaila (Lucas), Brandon, Tyler (Laura), Dylan (Meghan), Allissa, Mackenzie (Josh), Maggie (Brad); 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert Johnson, Chester Johnson Jr.; sisters, Sylvia Rygh, Adeline Zoller; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha on Oct. 30, 2024; son, Kurtis; granddaughter, Isabelle; brothers, Stanley, Larry, and David; sisters, Betty (Kendall) Albertson and Serena in infancy; sister-in-law, Janice Johnson; and brother-in-law, Bob Rygh.

A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at the Washington Reformation United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Pastor Kelly Volk officiating. Inurnment with military services will follow in the Washington Church Cemetery. Visitation will precede the services at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Memorials are suggested in Kenneth's name to Washington Church. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
