Kenneth Raymond "Ken" Johnson Sr.
February 21, 1947 - March 6, 2026
KEENE, NH - Kenneth Raymond "Ken" Johnson Sr., 79, a longtime resident of Keene, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Cheshire Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born in Keene, NH, on February 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Raymond and Melissa (Nims) Johnson. Ken attended local schools and was a proud graduate of the Monadnock Regional High School Class of 1965. He continued his education at Franklin Pierce College before embarking on a distinguished career.
Ken's professional life was defined by loyalty and a tireless work ethic. He began his career as a machinist at Kingsbury Machine Tool in Keene, eventually rising through the ranks to become a key member of the management team. Over his 43-year tenure, he served as President of the Kingsbury Credit Union and was a long-term member of the International Management Council (IMC).
Beyond his professional achievements, Ken was a man of many interests. In his earlier years, he could be found candlepin bowling, playing softball, or snowmobiling. He was an avid golfer and a familiar face at Brentwood Golf Course. A dedicated fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots, Ken never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite New England teams with his family. Ken was a familiar face around town, usually seen behind the wheel of his signature red F-150.
Ken and his wife, Sandra, shared 60 wonderful years of life and adventure together, enjoying trips to Las Vegas and various cruises. Closer to home, he found his greatest joy hosting summer barbecues and spending time by the family pool with those he loved most.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle whose presence will be deeply missed by the community and his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife and life partner of 60 years, Sandra Johnson; his sons, Kenneth Johnson Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Wellesley, MA, and Kevin Johnson and his wife Erin of Riverside, PA. "Daughter/Niece" Valerie Woiciechowski. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Makenzie, Conor, Emily, Deanna, Chandler, and Piper Johnson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
