Kenneth William Kallman was born on March 19, 1941, to Evert and Anna Kallman in Chicago, IL. He was the youngest of four children and affectionately called "Kenneth Enough."
Ken and Jeri first met in Sunday School at Bethel Baptist Church in Minneapolis when they were just eight and nine years old. Though Jeri moved away, she returned to Minneapolis in 10th grade, catching Kenny's eye once again. Ken graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in 1958 and enlisted in the Navy Reserves, serving for three years. During his service, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jeri, on September 22, 1961.
Ken's Navy service ended early in 1963, allowing him to enroll at the University of Minnesota for the winter quarter. While he was still in school, Jodi Lynn was born on December 30, 1964, and Jeri worked at Bloomington Lake Clinic. Ken graduated in the spring of 1967 with a degree in Music Education, and that same year, Randall Kenneth was born on November 18.
In the fall of 1967, Ken accepted a teaching position in the Minnetonka School District, where he had previously student-taught. Over his 32-year career, he taught band at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels. He also directed the marching band, jazz bands, pep bands, and pit orchestra for school musicals, leaving a lasting impact on his students and colleagues.
Throughout the years, Ken took on secondary jobs to support his family. He spent summers painting alongside his father and served as choir director at several churches, including Bethlehem Baptist Church, Edgewater Baptist Church (twice), Excelsior Covenant, and Cross of Glory Church. Additionally, Ken dedicated over 30 years of service to Northern Pines of MN, embodying a spirit of commitment and faith. After completely retiring, Ken served as Director of Seniors Activities and Visitation at Cross of Glory Church up until just a few years ago.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jeri; daughter Jodi (Mark) Bargmann; son Randy (Kristina); grandchildren Matt (Alyssa) Bargmann, Kayla (Karl) Entleutner, Melissa Bargmann, Nicole (Willy) Olson; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Angie Kallman.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings Vi and Dave, but is survived by his sister Annette.
Ken passed away on Friday, March 28, at Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his family as they sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." It may not have been their finest performance, but it was a profoundly beautiful and meaningful memory for everyone. Ken was a Godly man who loved Jesus.
