Kenneth C. "Ken" Colegrove, 89, died January 10, 2026, at his home in Port Byron, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Port Byron. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gibson-Bode Funeral Home in Port Byron. The burial will take place at Fairfield Cemetery in Port Byron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ken was born on October 2, 1936, in Joliet, Illinois, to Clarence and Myrtle (Kramer) Colegrove. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Ken was united in marriage to Adrienne N. Koefoed on September 29, 1961, in Joliet, Illinois. She passed away on July 14, 2010. He worked at Exelon Quad Cities Generating Station in Cordova in mechanical maintenance until his retirement. He was a member of the IBEW union.
Ken enjoyed sitting on his porch observing nature around the farm, attending High School State Finals Football with his sons, attending Friday night Geneseo football games with his family, traveling with his son to NASCAR races across the country, visiting the Football Hall of Fame and the Baseball Hall of Fame with his son, traveling with his wife and family, visiting local restaurants, doing mechanical projects, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his daughter Deb (Joe) Friday of East Moline; son John (Sherry) Colegrove of Athens; daughter Karen (Jim) Jones of Geneseo; daughter Dawn (Rick) Genz of St. Charles; grandchildren DJ (Yana) Friday, Adrianna (Joey) VanDuyne, Jesse (Katie) Friday, Rebekka Colegrove, David Colegrove, Jimmy (Molly) Jones; great grandchildren Mila, Danik, RoseMary, Asher, Ava (due in May), Landon and Natalie; sister-in-law's, Virginia Colegrove and Patricia Koefoed.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Thomas, brother Roy, sister Joyce Ganz, and sister Velma Paterson.
