Mr. Kettwig was my favorite teacher in all of middle school. I loved everything about his wood shop class, and my dad I and even signed up for a class he taught in the evenings. I continue to be so proud of the woodworking skills he taught me. I looked forward to his class every day.
Sending much love to Mr. Kettwig´s family. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

My condolences to the family!
Mr Kettwig was one of my favorite teachers ever. His wood shop was the greatest. I took his class in 7th and 8th grade and was his TA in 8th grade. He taught me the love of woodworking as I have been building custom homes for many years. I will drink a Dr Pepper in his honor (he used to sell Dr Pepper out of his office).

Mr Kettwig was the first male teacher who I was was floored by his abilities.
He was kind, fair, and equitable with his time. He taught the basics and made it easy to understand... once you got that down he challenged you further. Being late to his class there were consequences... you had to run up the hill and touch the fire hydrant... no exceptions. You needed to finish your task and. Put your project away and put all the tools away at the end of every class. Since then my love of drawing, designing, and working with wood has been a favorite hobby of mine. Even after a disabling skiing accident that put me in a wheelchair, I continued my hobby of woodworking. This month of March I just finished my table (made at the height that works for the wheelchair) and three other tables made to hold a table saw, a sliding chopsaw, and a thickness planer... that all hook up to the table so I am able to move them together or individually to perform the tasks I need.
While I was never in contention of winning the golden hammer he gave out, the lessons and encouragement Mr. Kettwig laid out, I use to this day.
Mr Kettwig was one of the finest teachers I have had. He made my 7th and 8th grade years extremely enjoyable.
Sending positive thoughts, warmth, and love to the family and friends who knew this great man. We need more Mr. Kettwigs in this world.
I am a better person because of kindness, knowledge, dedication to the craft, and his attention to detail

My heartfelt condolences to the family. I have such fond memories of Mr. Kettwig at Pine Grove in the 60's. He was a talented and effective and kind woodshop teacher.

Mr. Kettwig was one of the best teachers I ever had. I made a mistake once drilling holes for a shelf, and angry and embarrassed, excused myself to cry in the bathroom. When I came back, he had fixed it and gave me a nod to let me know I wasn´t in trouble and didn´t need to say anything. I am 52 now, and I´ll never forget his kindness to a very awkward middle school girl. May his memory be a blessing.
