Kenneth Raymond Lewis

AddThis Sharing ButtonsKenneth Raymond Lewis, age 52, of Columbus, passed away on March 7th, 2023, at Columbus Hospice. Kenny was born on September 19th, 1970, and grew up in Columbus. He attended Clubview Elementary, Edgewood Elementary, Fort Junior High, Brookstone School, and graduated from William Henry Shaw High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Columbus State University, where he served as Director of the CSU Pep Band and of the Jazz Combo among numerous other honors. An accomplished bassist, Kenny performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions, was a founding member of the rock band "No Promises," and also performed with and/or opened for such noted musicians as the Neville Brothers, Widespread Panic, Edwin McCain, and Lou Diamond Phillips. Kenny also was a paraprofessional and later a teacher in the Muscogee County School System
He is survived by four siblings: Gwendolyn Elaine Lewis Bryant (Arthur) of Columbus, Anthony Jules Lewis (Theresa) of Fortson, Robert Allen Lewis (Melissa) of Columbus, and Benjamin Owen Lewis (Jennifer) of Greensboro, North Carolina, eight nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Augustine Lewis and Esther Gwendolyn Allen Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2100 Hilton Ave, Columbus, GA 31906, on Saturday, March 11th, at 1:00pm, with a reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kenny's memory to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd, Columbus, GA 31909, or St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2100 Hilton Ave., Columbus, GA, 31906.
