Kenneth Matthew “Kenny” Mayes, 37, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away on November 25, 2025. He was born on October 13, 1988, in Hobbs.
Kenneth was a loving son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend whose free spirit and kind heart touched everyone he met. He had a contagious smile, a gentle nature, and a deep love for animals, nature, and travel. His adventures took him through Peru, Mexico, Alaska, and many places across the United States. Kenneth lived boldly and authentically, embracing life with curiosity and compassion. He will be remembered for his laughter, his warmth, and the joy he brought into the lives of others.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Drs. Doyle and Dixie Mayes, and Ralph and Josie Ortiz. He is survived by his parents, Drs. Jim and Diana Mayes; his brother, Dr. Daniel Mayes and wife Erica, and their children Isaiah, Adriana, and Christian; his sister, Lanna Mayes; and his partner, Maya Perez.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Hope in Hobbs, with a celebration of life to follow.
