Kenneth Lee Maynard

Kenneth Lee Maynard, age 80, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Kenny was born on May 15, 1945, in Springfield, Missouri, to the late Raymond and Doris Maynard. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and character.

Kenny was a Master Mechanic whose mechanical skill and knowledge were unmatched. He had a lifelong passion for cars and speed, especially drag racing and motorcycles. He proudly owned a 1955 Chevy and a 1957 Chevy. His love for engines, craftsmanship, and competition was evident to anyone who knew him.

Kenny enjoyed trips to Missouri for "cousin bashes", hanging in a garage with his friends, being at any racetrack, as well as trips to the beach and going camping. Those who knew Kenny best will remember his hardheaded yet lovingly stubborn nature, a trait that often brought laughter and admiration. He was a loyal, gentle giant, a steadfast friend, and someone you could always count on until the very end.

Above all else, Kenny loved his family. He raised his children with morals and instilling in them at an early age knowing the difference between right and wrong. He was extremely close to his brothers and his nieces and nephews. They were a close-knit extended family, always doing things together. Kenny was the family's go-to person always offering his steadfast guidance, support and safety.

Kenny will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His legacy of loyalty, passion, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Marilyn Dobbs and Phillip Maynard.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy Maynard; children, Teresa Hendon (Mike) and Danny Maynard (Shannon); grandchildren, Rachel Hurst (Casey), Elizabeth George (Eric) and Kira Maynard; great-grandchildren, Raegan Hurst, Lola George, Ford Hurst and Riley George; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the Sosebee Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
