Kenneth Earl McCrary passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on February 9, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born to E.C. and Madge McCrary in Lubbock, Texas where he attended public school and graduated in 1963. In 1966 he joined the Air Force and after basic training and tech school he was assigned to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana where he met and married Linda Rieckman from Dickinson, North Dakota. After serving in the Air Force, they returned to Texas in 1970.
Ken's professional life included the grocery business, the semiconductor field and carpentry and after several moves Ken and Linda settled in Hays County where they lived with their family for 37 years.
Ken was a man who loved working with his hands, whether it was tending to his property or crafting something beautiful out of wood. A true Texan at heart, Ken's interests included watching tales of cowboys and the old West or Nascar or football. His passion for the outdoors was evident in the hours he spent gardening, the time he spent taking his grandchildren on tractor rides and the joy he found in hosting barbecues for his family and friends.
Ken leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years Linda, his 3 children; sons Ryan and Nolan and daughter Sharla, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members.
As we bid farewell to Ken McCrary, we celebrate a life well-lived - a life full of love and a legacy of quiet strength. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace after his courageous battle with a lengthy illness.
A private service will be held to honor Ken's life and legacy. He will be laid to rest in a place surrounded by the beautiful Texas landscape that was so dear to his heart. In lieu of flowers, please send your thoughts and prayers to the family or make a donation in his honor to your favorite charity or organization.
