KENNETH “ERIC” McKISSACK
DOTHAN… Kenneth “Eric” McKissack, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon, January 12, 2025, at a Dothan Hospital, from injuries sustained in an accidental fall. He was 51.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Jim Corley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening, January 14, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the McKissack Family Donation Fund at Midsouth Bank.
Eric was born in Dothan, Alabama to Kenneth D. & Marilyn Barker McKissack. He graduated from Northview High School in Dothan, Alabama and attended Wallace Community College. In his younger years he was an amazing baseball player and won several championships as a pitcher. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and he was good at it. Eric loved helping others and never said no to a friend. At the time of his death, he was working with Bob Woodall’s Commercial (BWC) as a HVAC Supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary and William Grady Barker; his paternal grandparents, Nina Christine McKissack and B.D. McKissack; his uncle, Fred McKissack; his aunt, Terri McKissack; his sister-in-law, Roxie Ellenburg; and his father-in-law, Sam Moore.
Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife, Shanda Moore McKissack; his daughters, Lillyen and Kaydence; his son, Hunter; his parents Ken & Marilyn McKissack; his sisters, Amy Calhoun (Matt) and Nycole McKissack (Billy Joe Knowles); his nieces, Evie & Embrie Calhoun; his mother-in-law, Nell Moore; his brothers-in-law, Todd Moore (Wanda) and Scott Ellenburg (Crystal); his aunts, Sue Corley (Jim) and Brenda Singleton (Joe); his uncles, Gene McKissack and Charles McKissack; and his several special cousins.
