Kenneth John “Narv” Schwery was born on June 13, 1960, in Harlan, Iowa, to James and Carolyn (Carl) Schwery. He was raised on the family farm outside of Panama, Iowa. After graduating in 1978, Narv worked at the elevator and for Harlan Builders and spent many years doing siding and guttering. Narv raised cattle for the last several years and farmed with his dad. He was married to Pam Fredrickson on September 5, 2000. Narv’s greatest joy and the love of his life was born on March 1st, 2010. Dani made him a father. He never knew greater love. She was truly the love of his life. He was her champion, greatest supporter, and the best teacher of life. Together they filled the kitchen with bubbles and filled each other’s hearts with unending love. It was evident they were made for each other.
Narv found great joy in bottle-feeding calves. He enjoyed hunting and cherished moments spent watching Nascar. Narv had an incredible knack for fixing just about anything. Whether tinkering with something mechanical or making maple syrup, he poured his heart into his craft. He approached life with determination and a positive attitude. Narv was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. He was a treasured member of the Panama community; a dedicated volunteer offering his time, energy, and creativity to generously support those around him. Family and friends played a central role in Narv’s life, and those that knew him best were always showered with thoughtful, personal Narv gifts. He was a one of a kind uncle. Narv always made sure to have “prizes” for the holidays or any random day, and was adored by all his nieces and nephews.
Narv died at his home in Panama on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the age of 65 years, five months and seven days.
Narv was preceded in death by his mother and brothers, Kevin and Larry Schwery. He is survived by special daughter, Dani Stessman of Panama; father, James Schwery of Panama; siblings, Meg Kohles-Dunlop of Panama, Andy (Nancy) Schwery of Walhalla, South Carolina, Mike Schwery of Dunlap, Iowa, Jim (Lisa) Schwery of Logan, Iowa, Steve (Sheri) Schwery of Woodbine, Iowa, Barb (Richard) Leuschen of Earling, Iowa, Marcia (Howard) Lim of Olympia, Washington, Lori (Eric) Yakley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cindy Schwery (Seth Nelson) of Panama, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
