Kenneth Lee O'Shell, a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather, passed away March 31, 2025, at the age of 72. Known and loved by many in the community, Ken had a love of the outdoors, athletics and adventure. Born August 6, 1952, in San Diego, California, to Walter Edward O'Shell and Beatrice Adams, we will remember Ken for his tireless work ethic, unflinching commitment to moral values, and loyal devotion to family and friends.

As his father was a naval officer, he moved every few years, spending many of them in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, at his mother's family home while his father was at sea. Ken held numerous jobs throughout his life, much of it working several at once to support his young family. He graduated from Rollins College in Orlando, Florida, taking classes at night while working full time and raising his teenage daughter, Cinnamin.

Among the occupations he held were working for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier, the Federal Aviation Association as an air traffic controller, the Kennedy Space Center as a database manager, and, finally, Bank of America as a database security manager. He retired in 2019.

In 1994, Ken married Anne Lenore Harvey at The Church of the Good Shepard in Corpus Christi, Texas. They had one son, Travis DeWitt O'Shell.

A lifelong athlete and lover of the outdoors and travel, he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Boy Scouts of America Troop 72. Through the scouting program, he made many lasting friendships and enjoyed shaping and mentoring young lives. He was always active and focused on staying fit by hiking, cycling and scuba diving.

He was a world traveler who visited many countries, from Belize to the Southwest United States and the Cayman Islands, where he explored the underwater world through scuba diving.

His memory will be cherished by those he left behind, including his wife, Anne Harvey O'Shell, his brother, Dennis O'Shell, his children, Cinnamin Marie O'Shell and Travis DeWitt O'Shell, and his grandchildren, Skylar Jade Turk and Denis Charles Turk.

Ken enjoyed spending time with many close friends cycling, watching sports and socializing. He and his cycle team, the "Beach Riders," participated in the Multiple Sclerosis Society MS 150 ride annually for many years as well as other organized rides across the United States.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to all the wonderful friends who have reached out to support our family during this difficult time.

The family will celebrate Ken's life in a memorial service at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
