Kenneth Lloyd Phillips was born in Henderson, Rusk County, Texas to David Lloyd and Minnie Vernon (Haynes) Phillips on August 3, 1944. He was reared in Baytown, Texas. Kenneth lost his courageous battle with liver cancer on April 15, 2012. "Now cracks a noble heart. Goodnight, sweet prince. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest" William Shakespeare. Kenneth attended Cedar Bayou Schools. He was a member of Robert E. Lee High School class of 1963; he attended Panola College and Lee College. He was a Sergeant in the Air Force and spent a year (1967-1968) in Vietnam, as a flight mechanic at Cam Ranh Bay. He once said that he spent his junior year of college in Nam. In 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Marcelle (Marcy) Gallatin, of Baytown. They had one daughter, Stacei Camyle (Phillips) Bible. After serving in the Air Force, he came back to Texas and worked in middle management for 28 yrs. at U.S. Steel in Baytown, Texas and Gary, Indiana before taking a medical retirement. While in Indiana, he and Sharon lived in the town of Valparaiso. In 1996, Kenneth had a brain aneurysm repaired and later suffered a stroke, effecting his right, dominate side. After moving back to Texas and, in spite of his handicap, he continued to have the prettiest yard on the street. During winters, his hobby was his train collection and building his room size, triple-decker layout. He was also an avid reader. Kenneth also had a special love for his dachshunds, Pamela, Sophia, and Robin. Preceded in death by his parents, special aunt and uncles, W. A. Jr., and Claudine Taylor, of Rusk County, TX and Bill Phillips, of Baytown. His grandparents, William David and Anna (Simpson) Phillips, and Ruben and Lula (Parker) Haynes; also predeceased him, as did his mother and father-in-law, Lester and Mollie (Wiseman) Gallatin, of Baytown. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Sharon "Marcy" Gallatin Phillips, of Baytown; his daughter, Stacei and husband, John Evan Bible, of The Woodlands, TX. His granddaughter and "the light of his life", "Miss" Molly Eloise Bible, also of The Woodlands. Kenneth's two siblings; David Phillips and Ruth (Phillips) Bickham, will also mourn his loss; as will his "chosen family", Michael and Pamela Thorn. Kenneth's brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and very special friends will miss him as well.

I am so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. The Phillips were our neighbors in Carthage, Texas as I grew up. I thought a lot of Ken. He was very patient with all the pranks we played on him. And he played a few on us, like the time he poured oil on my legs then dumped sand on them while I was under the car helping my dad remove the gas tank. What a mess I was! But I'm sure I deserved it.

My prayers for all the family as I'm sure you still miss him terribly.
