Kenneth J. Pluskat, age 80, passed away at his home with family by his side, on March 5, 2022.
He was born on April 2, 1941, in Sheboygan to the late Walter and Carita (Hoppe) Pluskat. He graduated from North High School and went on to earn an associate's degree in law enforcement at LTC. Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman and was honorably discharged in 1961. He continued to fly as a private pilot, training at General Mitchell Field, where he met Kathleen Stewart. They were married in 1971 and one of their favorite past times was flying planes together. Kathleen preceded him in death on May 15, 2019.
Ken held a variety of different occupations over the years including working as a deputy for the Sheboygan Sheriff's Department for over 10 years, bus driving for Discovery Coach, and as a security guard at the Kohler Company.
Ken was a Civil War enthusiast and enjoyed going to reenactments and even published a book on Civil War diaries that later became a movie script. His favorite activities included birdwatching, drawing, fishing, camping and target practice at local shooting ranges, for which he earned sharpshooter medals.
He is survived by his children, Kristopher Pluskat and Karen (Jesse) Lawrence; a sister, Patty (John) Koehn and a sister-in-law, Marlene Pluskat; nieces, nephews, other family and friends further survive.
Along with his parents, Ken was preceded in death by a brother Donald Pluskat.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ken on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 1:00 PM with military honors to follow, at St. Dominic Parish Catholic Church, 2133 N 22nd St. in Sheboygan, with Father Norbert Sandoval officiating. The family will greet visitors at church on Monday from NOON until the time of the service. For those who would like to attend virtually can do so on Ken's obituary page on the funeral home's website.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ken's name.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the great care given to Ken.
