Ken Schnaser, age 83, of Marshall and formerly of Appleton, Minnesota, died peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Memorial Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a reception, interment with military honors will be in the Appleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of his celebration at 1:30 p.m., also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall.
Kenneth Allen Schnaser was born on May 30, 1939, in Ortonville, Minnesota. He was the son of Gustav "Pete" and Ruby (Friedrich) Schnaser. He was baptized in his youth at the Baptist Church. After attending country school through the 8th grade, Ken went to Appleton High School and graduated there with the class of 1958. He went on to help his folks on the family farm.
On January 16, 1971, Ken was united in marriage to Jean Ronning at the Congregational Church in Appleton, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Appleton where they raised their son, Mark. Ken drove truck for many years with both Larson Gravel and Commerford Gravel Inc. In the spring and fall he also assisted several area farmers.
Ken was a proud member of AMVETS in Appleton and his enjoyments in life included ice fishing, playing cards, traveling, and watching the Minnesota Twins or Vikings and old westerns. He spent a lot of time with his grandchildren, babysitting and playing games and offering many witty comments.
Kenneth Schnaser died peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota. He had reached the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 11 days. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Schnaser of Marshall; son, Mark (and Mindi) Schnaser of Marshall; 3 grandchildren, Lexi Schnaser of Denver, CO, Ashton Schnaser of Sioux Falls, SD, Tydeman Schnaser of Marshall; 3 siblings, Patricia (and Ronald) Bruzek Of Eagan, Mary Schumacher of Eagan, Donald (and Mary) Schnaser of Lester Prairie; sister-in-law, Linda Schnaser [from Roger] of Hagerstown, MD; brother-in-law, Robert (and Judy) Ronning of Montevideo; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Ruby Schnaser; and siblings, Gene Schnaser and Roger Schnaser.
