Kenneth Raymond Sexton, age 84, of Springfield, IL passed away at home on Wednesday December 14, 2022 at 11:15pm. He was born July 17, 1938 in Athens, IL the son of James Elmer and Helen (Gudgel) Sexton.
He married Josie Appel March 29, 1984 in Springfield, IL. Ken served in the Air Force from 1957 to 1961. He worked for Stewart Warner Hobbs as a maintenance foreman for 50 years. He was a member of the Athens Christian Church and his passion in life was his horses which he raised and dedicated his entire life too. After the death of his wife, he stepped up and took care of his mother-in-law until the time of her passing 4 years later. He was always so giving and always there to help out if someone needed him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie; his parents; a sister, Norma Allgood; and 3 brothers, David, Russell and Jim.
Ken is survived by 2 daughters, Dawn Courier of Auburn, IL and Brenda Schrader of Springfield, IL; 2 sons, Wayne (Peggy) Sexton of New Springfield, IL and Jeff (Kathy) Sexton of New Berlin, IL and several grandchildren.
Cremation was accorded by Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home on Springfield.
There will be a Memorial Gathering from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday December 21, 2022. A Memorial Service will follow at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 North 5th St. Springfield, IL 62702. Reverend Ken Gennicks will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Athens Christian Church.
