Kenneth Staab, age 71, passed away on March 19, 2023 at the Colonial Center in
Colby, Wisconsin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion in
Marshfield, Wisconsin on April 22, 2023. A visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A committal prayer will be held at 12:15 PM followed by Military Honor rites by American Legion Post #54 honor guard. A luncheon at the American Legion will be served after. Ken will be laid to rest then at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery that afternoon.
Ken was born on July 25, 1951 the son of Edward and Lillian (Bach) Staab at St. Joseph hospital in
Marshfield, Wisconsin. Ken grew up on his parent's farm in
Dorchester, Wisconsin. He attended St. Louis Catholic School and graduated from Colby High School in 1969.
After high school, Ken joined the Army National Guard of Wisconsin and was a staff sergeant with company D 724th Engineer Battalion. He was discharged on September 5, 1976 with an honorable discharge after serving six years.
Ken loved carpentry work and attended Chicago Technical College Architectural Drafting, American Estimating Institute, State of Wisconsin Apprenticeship, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, all with graduating Certificates.
Ken lived most of his life in
Marshfield, Wisconsin. He owned Green Roof Investments and B&K Builders of Marshfield. Ken built many residential and commercial properties homes in the Marshfield area and many other locations in Wisconsin. He had a passion for building Historic Preservation projects. The Old City Hall on 2nd Street; Central State Bank on 3rd and Central; and the Purdy Building (now the Aster) were just three of his many historic projects.
Ken was a kind hearted person and had a chuckle always with his laugh. Ken enjoyed curling, card playing, fishing, hunting, camping, boating and watching the Green Bay Packers with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Ken was married to Georgia Behrens in 1980 and later divorced. Ken is survived by his children, Joseph and Jordan; his grandchild, Cameron; brothers and sisters: Phyllis Werner, Aaron (Donna) Staab, Diane (Tom) Poehnelt, Joyce (Fred) Fischer, Rosemary (Fred) Lewin, Jeff (Renee) Staab, Greg (Sandy) Staab, Patricia Staab; and sister-in-law, Susan Staab. He is further survived by and several nieces and nephews.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian Staab; his daughter, Bethany; five brothers: Dennis, Joseph, Daniel, Mark, and Gerard; and brother-in-law, Gerald Werner.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the Colonial Center in Colby, House Calls of Menomonie and St. Croix Hospice for providing Ken with excellent care; and the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home for their services. In lieu of flowers; Ken's family will establish a Memorial in his name.
