Kenneth Wayne Tyra, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at the VA Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was a 76 year old Army Veteran born in Wolfe County to the union of the late Herbert and Josie Haddix Tyra, a former employee of Hobarts and Magnaflex, as well as a member of the Christian Faith.
He is survived by 2 daughters; Angela Martin (Richard) and Jennifer Thorne (Rova), a son, Gregory Tyra, 3 grandchildren; Amanda Tyra, McKinsey Tyra and Levi Martin (Jenna), 9 great grandchildren; Rachel, Bryce, Waylon, Peyton, Kaylee, Rayne, Jordan, Aliyah and Brantley, 3 sisters; Wilma Ratliff, Linda Hensley (Jim) and Geraldine Townsend (Raymond), 5 brothers; Lee Tyra (Ida), Bill Tyra (Kathy), Tobe Tyra (Faye), Ray Tyra and Glenn Tyra (Faye), a host of nieces and nephews, and a fur baby, Daisy Tyra. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Tyra, 2 brothers; Tom Tyra and Paul Tyra, and 3 fur babies; L.B., Baby and Little Louie.
His funeral will be Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, Pastor Bobby Roe presiding with burial to follow in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Kevin Campo, Patrick Dragoo, Brian Wells, Johnathan McGuire, Levi Martin and Rova Thorne. Honorary Pallbearers are Cindy Bush, Richard Martin and Bryce Tyra.
Arrangements are placed in the care of Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals.
