Kenneth L. Voakes

VOAKES, Kenneth L.  Age 69, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 11, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Audrey Charlton officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 PM Saturday and 12-4 and 6-9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Genesys Hospice Care Center where a brick will be placed on the pathway in his name. Mr. Voakes was born March 26, 1936 in Flint, the son of Nelson and Zelda (Stacey) Voakes. He married Sally Oakley on January 21, 1956. Mr. Voakes retired from General Motors in 2003. He enjoyed golfing, boating and hot air ballooning. Mr. Voakes was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are: wife, Sally of Swartz Creek; five children, Kenneth L. Voakes, Jr. of Swartz Creek, Joyce and husband, Blair Samuelson of Flint, William Voakes and wife, Brenda of Grand Blanc, Joseph Voakes and wife, Karen of Naperville, IL, James Voakes and wife, Andrea of Davison; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis and husband, Milton Jacot of East Tawas; brother, Thomas Voakes of FL; special sister-in-law, Nancy and husband, William Gross of FL; several nieces and nephews.
