Kenneth was born in Jacksonville, TX to Dan and Edna Weaver and moved to Jackson, MS in 1948. He was a 1962 graduate of Clinton High School and earned his Accounting degree from Mississippi College where he finished at the top of class (the year before they began honoring the top of the class with the Outstanding Accountant award). After a short time with Gilcrest Tractor Co., he began working for the U.S. Treasury Department in 1969 moving to Rome, GA, then Greenwood, MS and finally back to Clinton in 1974. In 1999, he retired as a corporate auditor with the Internal Revenue Service after a distinguished, 30-year career.
He survived polio, car crashes and explosions, bomb threats, broken bones, and surgeries. He saved a life from drowning. He even chased a purse snatcher on foot through the streets of Vicksburg, a feat that inspired some pretty humorous family drawings. He took great care in protecting all kinds of wildlife.
Kenneth loved his family. He was a loving father and grandfather who was generous with his time. He coached Little League, inspired musical expression, and encouraged quality work. His deep love for his family was expressed in many ways. From cheering for Kayla at Challenger League Softball games to playing her favorite songs on the jukebox, like "Peter Cottontail" and "King Creole". From watching Hannah hone skills in TaeKwonDo and marching in the MSU band to cheering Zachary on at the ballpark and geography bees and discussing world politics.
His hobbies included woodworking, leathercraft, sports, and photography, but his favorite pastime was music. He enjoyed recording and cataloging music from the family vinyl library spanning 80 years. Those velvety vinyl vibes were always pulsing through his Marantz component system or one of his dad's jukeboxes.
He loved his pets and offered the same hospitality to strays and wild animals alike. Roxie the Raccoon and unnamed opossums, snakes, turtles, lizards, frogs were always welcome. Squirrels and carpenter bees were tolerated but never earned good names.
Kenneth is survived by his close friend Linda Bowman, his brother Howard Weaver (Jeannine) of Clinton, MS and Neta Spear (Richard) of Russellville, AR; his son Ken Weaver (Cindy) of Madison, MS and their daughters, Kayla and Hannah (Daniel) of Ft Walton Beach, FL; his son Randy Weaver (Patsy) of Madison, MS and their son Zachary stationed with the US Army; and a host of beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces.
