"Mr. Larry" was my art teacher in high school. We went to the continuation HS so we had already made a reputation as "problem kids" but he NEVER made us feel that way. He was always an ear that would listen with no judgements, knowing we were just trying to figure life out. I always felt valued and respected by him and he usually had a wise word or two to lend. He was fun, and silly and I am thankful he was one of my teachers back then. My condolences to your whole family. He will be missed

Karen, Jamie and Ella,
Larry was your everything! He was the best husband, adoring father and super duper grandfather. His enthusiasm and appreciation of life and art slid into your hearts and souls. Yet, it was his faith and honor in which you could always count on for love, hope and a brighter future. Although missed beyond words, his love and majesty will surround all of you forever, in thought, word and deed. Love, Janet

Karen - my deepest sympathies are being sent to you. May you be showered in an abundance of love throughout the challenging days ahead. I grew up in the Manhattan Beach Ward (I will always consider it my home ward) and have known Larry as far back as I can remember. He is a kind and wise soul, genuine and nice and full of love. Not a mean bone in his body. My parents, Bob and Joyce Ball, think the world of the Westover family. I remember his father serving as bishop - as I recall, he memorized everyone´s phone number in the ward and called to wish ward members a happy birthday. One memory that really stands out in my mind is that whenever I came home to visit my parents, my husband and I accompanied them to church. My husband is an architect and is very artistic. He and Larry shared a common bond and Larry went out of his way to befriend him and to take him to priesthood with him. May
Larry´s Christlike love and example forever live on in our hearts.

With much love, Lorie Ball Springer

Karen, our hearts go out to you, Jamie, Ella, and all of Larry´s family. We were so saddened by the news. I have known Larry since I was 12. We met in Lawndale Ward when he visited his Aunt Lydia and Uncle Hayden Church. His keen sense of humor was already making me laugh and we remained friends from then on. Mike and I really had a great time with a Larry after his return from his mission, and had so many good experiences at El Camino. Years went by, we stayed in the area, he left for BYU, and we touched base every few years. His talents were awesome in everything that he dabbled in. He gave us a book of his poetry for a wedding present! We were thrilled when Larry and Karen found each other, and were so very happy together. When I remember Larry, it will always be with a smile on my face and a special tug at my heartstrings. Much love to you, Karen. Terri and Mike Mahkorn

We were very saddened to hear of Larry's passing. Larry was my executive secretary when I served as bishop of the Manhattan Beach Ward. He and Karen became dear friends. We never had a dull meeting when Larry was there. He had a unique sense of humor, and always kept us laughing. We send our love and condolences to Karen and family.

I have so many memories of Larry. I remember him explaining to me why a seemingly simple painting looked so satisfying to the eye. All I knew before that was that it just looked good. But I think my favorite was his describing a scene to me with four familial generations of men, describing to me the facial expressions and body language of each, and how each interaction was a representation or microcosm of the lives we all lead. There was no picture, but the description sits in my mind to this very day, and it really helps me understand how to relate to people and their circumstances.

I won´t forget you.

Karen and family, our prayers are with you at this sacred time. May God bless you with comfort

A wonderful friend and cousin. My memories with Larry go back to our childhoods. We shared fun and not so fun moments together. Throughout those times Larry was always positive and a fun person to be around.
I will miss the recent times we spent reminiscing about the good old days. He will be missed by those left here, but I am confident he has been greeted with expressions of love surrounded by his family on the other side of the veil. "Larry" I will miss you until we meet again. "Kenny"

My name is Nancy Sheffield, 82 yrs old, Larry and Karen accompanied me to the Temple to take out my endowments and treated me like family. They were so caring and helpful even making sure I had a ride to the Temple they went every week. Larry was so in Love with Karen and thrilled when there was a new baby in their home. He said he thought he was going to miss out on being around a baby in his life, He loved being a grandfather. There were no more sharing couples like the Westover's. They opened up their home to the whole ward hosting weddings and Relief Society outings. I will forever love both Larry and Karen. If it wasn't for their influence I would not have gotten the best cataract surgeon for my eyes which turned out great. Larry was one of those talented and charitable people that our Father in Heaven sends to change peoples lives. I was Blessed to have him and Karen cross my path in life. All my sympathy and love to Karen. Nancy Sheffield Manhattan Beach Wards

Larry and Karen accompanied me to the temple when I was 72 for my Endowments and then took me to the Temple for years till they moved to UT. Larry was so in love with Karen and showed it. He took me to the prayer circle for the 1st time. I'm sure Karen suggested it. They were so unselfish with their time and shared their home with our whole ward. They were examples of true faith and love to me and many others,. There will never be another like Larry. I send my love always. and as for Karen she is always in my heart and I will always be grateful
