Roy Kennith Wetzel, 92, of Winnsboro, Texas, received his heavenly reward on March 11, 2025. He was born on August 24, 1932, in the small community of Ogburn outside of Winnsboro to Manuel and Fannie Mae Suiter Wetzel.
Kennith attended Winnsboro High School, where he excelled in athletics, playing multiple sports for the Woodchucks. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge.
Following his military service, Kennith had various careers. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV), where he traveled the world to U.S. military bases, repairing and maintaining aircraft vital to national defense. Later, he returned home to work alongside his father at their family business, Wetzel's Garage, where he continued his passion for mechanics. To round out his working years, Kennith spent many years at Texas Utilities, where he was a dedicated employee until his retirement.
On March 15, 1956, Kennith married the love of his life, Reba Ann Anders. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and adventure. Kennith had a deep passion for the outdoors and a knack for mechanics. One of his greatest joys was riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. In his retired years, he developed a new hobby-restoring and fixing old lawnmowers, where his love for working with his hands extended to his yard, which he took great pride in. His love for sports remained strong throughout the years; he was a fan of racing, football, boxing, golf, and participated in a bowling league.
Kennith was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, where he found great joy in his faith and cherished his church family.
Kennith is survived by his daughters, Vickey Mitchell and husband Larry, and Sharon Frazier; his brothers, Raymond Wetzel and wife Carolyn, Milton Wetzel, Johnny Wetzel, and brother in law James Powell; Proud PawPaw to grandchildren Heith Mitchell and wife Christi, Lisa Mitchell Stringer and husband Derl, Cassey Mitchell Amerson and husband Chuck, Kody Keith and wife Jessika and Jacob Frazier; 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Reba; his parents, Manuel and Fannie Mae Wetzel; his sisters, Nelda Dieshler, Edna Nelson, and Bobbie Powell; his great-grandson, Mitchell Holt, and great-great-granddaughter Jillian Peoples.
Kennith's adventurous spirit, love for family, and dedication to his passions will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.
