Kenny A. Smith entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 15, 2026. He was born to the late Herbert and Doris Mae Smith King on August 25, 1944 in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Kenny completed his primary education in the Portsmouth Public School System. He enlisted in the United States Navy for 4 years as a Seaman and Reservist on USS Roosevelt. After serving in the Navy, Kenny loved being around his family and friends. He loved football. His favorite team was the Washington Commanders.

Kenny had many jobs, he worked at The Hut record store, a driver for North End Taxi in Newport News, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Smith and Doris Mae Smith King; his brother, Spencer Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his daughter, Ira Water; his stepmother, Elizabeth Smith; his loving son, Kenny Stukes of Norfolk, Virginia; his loving sisters, Edna of Newport News, Virginia, Jennifer of Hampton, Virginia, Victoria of Portsmouth, Doris of Richmond, Ann and Hillery of Texas, Velma of Hampton; his loving brother, Herbert of Newport News, Joseph and Shannon of South Carolina; 6 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2025 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
