Kerman D. Hammond, Sr., 86, of Buda, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 24,1939, in Harlington, Texas under a grapefruit tree. Kerman lived a life defined by faith, integrity, and unwavering service to his country and community. A proud veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Air Force, he served honorably from 1957 until his retirement from the Air Force in 1981. Throughout his distinguished military career, he was stationed at various posts both in the United States and abroad, earning numerous commendations in recognition of his leadership, dedication, and exemplary conduct. His years in uniform profoundly shaped his character, instilling in him a lifelong commitment to discipline, patriotism, and selfless service to others.

Following his retirement from military service, Kerman and his family made their home in Manassas, Virginia, where he began a successful career in the corporate sector before founding his own consulting firm, Phynix Management Group. During these years, he faithfully served as a longtime Deacon at Woodbine Baptist Church, where his family deepened their love for and service to the Lord.

In 1993, Kerman returned to Texas, settling in Dripping Springs and becoming an active member and Deacon of Sunset Canyon Church. He later made his home in Buda in 2006, where his commitment to faith, fellowship, and community continued to flourish.

Kerman was deeply dedicated to improving the lives of others. He was an active member of several veterans' organizations, generously mentoring young service members as they transitioned to civilian life. His service extended throughout the Kyle and Buda communities, where he volunteered extensively in outreach efforts and championed numerous neighborhood and civic improvement initiatives. He was a proud member of the Lions Club, the Buda American Legion Post, the VFW, and AMVETS.

Among his most cherished accomplishments, Kerman was a Founder, Adjutant, Honor Guard Rifleman, and five-term Commander of AMVETS Post TX-115. He also previously co-founded Nu Day Warriors in Buda, where his steady leadership, servant's heart, and compassionate spirit left a lasting and meaningful impact on countless families.

Above all, Kerman was a devoted family man. He shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Hazel, who survives him. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph (Nancy). He is survived by his children, Sharon Martinez (Don Guess), James Morrison (Stacy), Susan Brownlee, Kerman Jr (Francesca), and Deanna Wills (Wesley); his thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and five great-grandpups. All of whom were the pride and joy of his life. Kerman loved family fellowship gatherings, and always had a story to share along with his wisdom and warmth which will continue to guide them for generations to come.

Kerman will be remembered for his smile, generous heart, kindness, quiet strength, and deep sense of duty. His legacy of service-both to his nation and to his neighbors-will endure in the lives he touched.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service with military honors at 3:00 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, Texas. A committal service with honors will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 10:45 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nu Day Warrior, (294 Everglade Drive, Buda Tx 78610) local veterans' support organization in his memory.

He served with honor. He lived with purpose. He loved without measure.
