Kermit Arno Buntrock passed away suddenly, but peacefully at his home on Monday, April 21, 2025.
He was born on August 7, 1943 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Kermit Louis Buntrock and May Lucile Buntrock. He graduated from Storm Lake HS in 1961.
He founded Buntrock Industries in 1973 after having been introduced to the investment casting industry though Monsanto Corporation, Specialty Chemicals Division, where he served in technical sales.
Over the next forty years, he built Buntrock Industries into one of the leading suppliers of ceramic materials, chemicals, and equipment to the investment casting industry with customers throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe and the Far East. The industry specialized in the manufacturing for precision metal parts; examples of which include jet aircraft engine blades, surgical implants, and various other commercial metal parts of an intricate shape.
Kermit holds B.S. and M.S. Degrees in chemistry and economics from Iowa State University, an MBA Degree from The College of William and Mary and he holds a number of U.S. and international patents.
He was an active member at the Colonial Williamsburg Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, and traveled to many golf destinations throughout the country, Caribbean, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.
He is survived by his sister, Ann Louise Kelsey, residing in New Bern, NC, and her son, Mark W. Kelsey, residing in Raleigh, NC.
A service will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home, Friday, May 2 at 2:00pm, followed by a gravesite service at Williamsburg Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to William & Mary Business School Foundation or World Pediatrics. Information for donations:
