Mr. Kevin Eugene Clay, Sr., age 63, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, passed unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital. He was born on May 4, 1961, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Eugene Clay and Gladys Stewart Lemore.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Clay; his son, Kevin Clay, Jr.; his brother, Corbin Clay; and his beloved "Pops", Barry Lemore.
A graduate of Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, Kevin proudly served his country for seven years in the United States Army. After his service, he continued to serve his community in various capacities, most notably at Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma. There, Kevin spent six years as a staff member working in janitorial services, where his warm heart and caring nature left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Kevin was also a faithful greeter at Grace Baptist, where he was known for his hugs, handshakes, and a bright "welcome" to all who walked through the doors.
For over 20 years, Kevin worked at Whitt's BBQ in Tullahoma, and more recently, he became the proud owner and operator of the beloved restaurant. He built strong, lasting relationships with everyone who came through the doors, always bringing laughter and a joyful spirit to those around him.
Kevin's personality was larger than life-funny, outgoing, and never meeting a stranger. His laughter was infectious, and his big heart welcomed everyone. He was devoted to his family, and they meant everything to him. Kevin had a life motto: never let anything steal your joy. His ability to bring joy to others, especially when they were having a bad day, was a testament to the love he shared with everyone.
Kevin also enjoyed building things and found peace in the gym, where he would work out to unwind.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Clay; his daughter, Kandace Clay; his son, Christopher Clay; his mother, Gladys Lemore; two stepdaughters, Amanda Hill and Brittany (Josh) McGinniss; three step-grandchildren, Henry, Alex, and Connor; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma, with funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Tim McGhee will officiate. Kevin will be laid to rest at a later date at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Kevin's family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

Kevin was a whole year younger than Corbin and our friends. Which meant he couldn't hang with us and our friends because he wasn't old enough to hang with the "BIG BOYS". But one thing I have to admit, although he was younger, that boy could run. Kevin was so fast that he would give me a head start, catch up with me (running as fast as I could), look me in the eyes, smile at me, and then just pulled ahead, seemingly without any additional strain nor effort he got faster. But he still couldn't hang.

Kevin was one of the first persons I encountered when I first started to go to Grace Baptist Church several years ago. His warm reception made me feel welcome, and we became friends ever since. I will miss his goofy sense of humor and that laugh. Just knowing he his home with the Lord brings me comfort.
