Mr. Kevin Charles Cox, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Self Regional Medical Center in
Greenwood, SC, the same hospital where he first entered the world on May 16, 1974. His life was a testament to kindness, selflessness, and a passion for music and sports that brought joy to all who knew him.
Kevin grew up in
Greenwood, SC, where he attended Greenwood High School, laying the foundation for a life of dedication and hard work. He was a familiar face at Buck Stove Pool and Spa, where he excelled as a warehouse manager. Kevin's love for music was undeniable. He had been a drummer since age 14, participating in numerous bands including Danger, Tune Smith, Phunky Uncles, Gypsy Caravan, and Three Miles. He also served as a roadie for the Swinging Medallions for a few years, filling in as a drummer when needed.
For almost eight years, Kevin lived in Atlanta, where he not only pursued his career but also continued to follow his dream of playing in a band in 2006 with The Cat Daddies. Kevin was a member of Emerald Baptist Church in
Greenwood, SC, and his time in Atlanta was enriched by his involvement with 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, where he drew nearer to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He discovered his passion for sports young, starting with Parks and Rec baseball at age 6 and later pitching at Greenwood High in the 10th grade. He was an ardent supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves, his loyalty to his teams as steadfast as his commitment to his loved ones. Golfing was more than a hobby for Kevin; it was a way to connect with friends and nature. His love for animals (especially his dog, Sherlock) and the great outdoors was evident to all who accompanied him on his many adventures.
Those who knew Kevin will remember him for his kind and selfless nature. He was the person you could always count on to lend a helping hand, no matter the circumstance.
He is survived by his mother, Bernice Bentley Cox; his brother, Donald Cox; his niece, Megan Cox (Jose Bonilla) of Burien, Washington; his nephew, Harrison Cox of
Greenwood, SC; his girlfriend, Shannon Hook and her two daughters, Evey and Mary Carlisle of
Greenwood, SC. Kevin was predeceased by his father, John Edward "Ed" Cox, and his grandparents, Harold H. and Claudine Story Bentley and James and Doris Smalley Cox.
Mr. Kevin Charles Cox's journey on earth may have come to a close, but the melody of his life will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved him. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will remain an inspiration to all.
